You have some self rising flour, but you notice that it is past the expiration date. Is it still good? Can you still cook with it?
Self rising flour has a leavening agent in it already. It is typically baking powder. If the flour is expired, there is a good chance that it will not perform as you would expect.
If you need to cook with it, be prepared that you may not get the results that you want. if you do not get the results that you are used to, you can use the flour in the place of regular flour in baking recipes, or you can try adding an extra teaspoon of baking soda for each cup of flour to give it a boost.
