Popover Perfection
Popovers are a great treat if prepared properly. Here are some helpful and fun hints for your next batch.
When baking your popovers, lower the rack of the oven so that the tops do not get overly brown.
After you have removed them from the oven, pierce the top of each roll to let the hot steam out so that the rolls do not become soggy.
Don't open the oven door when baking. The loss of heat could cause the popovers to deflate.
Popovers are best served fresh out of the oven.
Change it up a bit and melt 3 tablespoons of butter into a 10" skillet or pie plate. Place in the oven to melt for a few minutes. Pour all of the batter into the pan and bake for about 40 minutes.
Or go Micro and bake miniature popovers in a mini muffin pan. Serve with cream cheese spreads or chicken salad.
